Summer 2022
The Nature House is still closed to the public but we have some exciting news to share. The BC Parks Foundation is working towards a bright future for the Nature House and we are hoping to be open again next summer. You can help guide the re-opening of the Nature House by taking a moment to fill out this survey on the Nature House. You can also help to get the Nature House back on its feet by making a donation through the BC Parks Foundation online donation form.
The Great News for visitors is that there are STILL some programs happening in the park through the BC Parks Foundation's Discover Parks Ambassadors Program. Look for their bright orange t-shirts and tent or ask at the Gate House for the schedule of events happening every Thursday, Friday and Saturday throughout the summer.

UPDATE: May 27, 2020
Hello Friends! It has been over 2 months since we had to close our doors. In that time all Provincial Parks in BC have been closed, re-opened for day-use and shortly will open for camping. The Nature House operates without government funding and depends on donations at the door, sales in our giftshop and user-fees for our tours and program. All of these sources of funding completely disappeard and we are unable to sustain operations at this time. What does this mean for the Nature House? What will this summer bring? What will the fall look like? We all are asking these questions and worrying over what will be. We sure hope we are able to see you in the summer somehow whether it is virtually (most likely) or in person (not as likely). We really hope we are able to still be here in the future. These are difficult times. Stay strong. If you have a chance, please connect with us on Facebook (The Rathtrevor Beach Nature House) or Instagram (RLC Parks). Sharing in the joy of nature and feeling the support of our community will help to get us through these diffcult times.

Rathtrevor Beach in the Fall and Winter
After the craziness of the summer and with the Rathtrevor Beach Nature House no longer opening daily, many people think our Naturalists are gone until the spring. However, Naturalists don't hibernate (although sometimes on a cold dreary day it seems like a fabulous option). Instead we are busy out and about in the community and doing tours and programs across Vancouver Island. Our Naturalists are available for programs 12 months of the year. Emailing us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. puts you in touch with our local naturalists staff. What are your options at this time of year? Well there are quite a few. For teachers, schools and groups we can always do programs in the park as long as you and your students are prepared to be in the outdoors in the weather conditions. If you peruse our programs offered in the spring these are all programs we can do throughout the year. We also head into schools more often at this time of year with our In-School Programs. This time of year can be a great time to explore some of our more adventurous programs that get kids moving, running and discovering including our Amazing Race and Survivors Programs. Did you know
we also offer special programs for Birthday Parties? And if you're just visiting the area we are often hired as guides in our local parks. As Park Operators of many of the Mid Island Parks we can take you on a discovery tour of Rathtrevor Beach, Little Qualicum Falls, Cathedral Grove, Englishman River Falls and many more! Did we mention we also have a 15 passenger van that we can take tours in or simply be hired to help with transportation needs.
The moral of our park naturalist story is that there is definitely no hibernating. Email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to get more information on any of these opportunities!
